Daily Tele continues bizarre campaign about some alleged phone conversation

Kevin Rudd’s official photo with George W Bush at G20 summit omitted from website

IT is the ultimate souvenir gift from Washington to a leader at a global summit - your own grip-and-grin pic with the US President.

The White House then adds an extra ego-stroking touch by putting the picture on its website so the world can see your familiarity with power. But not for Kevin Rudd.

The Daily Tele continues to publish stories about the impact of some alleged comments about a phone conversation between George Bush and Kevin Rudd and how that’s somehow damaged Australia’s standing in the world. Now it seems Rudd’s not been included in some happy snaps of the G20 event.

But do you want to see what doing real diplomatic damage looks like? Do you want to see a lame duck president in action? Do you want to see what News Limited won’t tell you? Rudd’s perceived indiscretion and it’s impact on world affairs pales into insignficance when you see the body language going on in this video. Get a load of this…

Will someone please tell those losers at the Daily Tele that it’s over. Bush is a has been. No-one cares what Bush thinks or says or does. He is a joke. And WEE are sure that he’s got more significant rejections to worry about than those he might be getting from the Australian PM.

John McCain’s ‘Graciousness’?

FEAR

How quickly they rush to rewrite history. News media all over have been quick to praise McCain’s concession speech last Wednesday (Australian time). And without a doubt it was a very pleasant speech, interrupted only by the boos and catcalls of his ‘diehard supporters’. Journalists and commentators rushed to praise the speech and give accolades to McCain - a great man, a hero.

Um…  hello? What about the last 6 months? Do we just forget that?

Spreading wealth around is a “big mistake”- Republicans

Dollars !

“Spread the wealth around: We will focus acutely on that,” said Steve Schmidt, Mr. McCain’s chief strategist. “Spread the wealth around is a big mistake.”

Polls Cause Campaigns to Change Their Itineraries - NYTimes.com.

Exactly what is wrong with spreading the wealth around? Isn’t that exactly what both parties want to do - they just have different methods of doing it. One is the hugely successful ‘trickle down effect’ that has resulted in an enormous class of working poor in the US - this is the method favoured by the Republicans. The other is redistribution of wealth through government programs and the welfare and tax system - favoured by Democrats.

But both in the end are about “spreading the wealth around” aren’t they? Surely?

Qantas - forget safety WEE want entertainment

What is with Qantas in flight entertainment? How hard is it to get a video that plays clearly? This is really the key question at the moment. While the rest of the media is focused on a few safety incidents, where is the outrage and publicity over that most annoying of air travel problems - crappy in flight entertainment?

Men in white vans

Woodley Park - Van v. Tree_120907 006

WEE know it’s a terrible stereotype, but men driving white vans seem to generally be complete wankers. WEE have just had a run in with a tosser in a white van today.

Men in white vans seem to think that they own the road. Everyone one else can go to hell in a hand basket. You know what? WEE don’t really care, however when men in white vans start behaving aggressively such as swerving at speed toward your vehicle, you do start to get a little peeved.

Get a grip, Rebecca…

Nuclear Explosion

Here is an hysterical quotation from today’s SMH. Coming on the same day as the news about the horrific terrorist attacks in Islamabad in Pakistan, WEE feel it really demonstrates how out of touch some people are:

Campbelltown resident Rebecca Giddio learned about 20 minutes too late of today’s M5 shutdown.

The 34-year-old was driving to her husband’s office in Botany to show off the newest addition to their family, three-week-old daughter Charlotte.

She had successfully bundled both Charlotte and the couple’s other daughter, four-year-old Brooke, into the car about 9.20am and had just passed the tolls, when news of the latest computer glitch broke on radio.

“It came over the radio station that the M5 had been totally closed both ways and then the next minute I just hit traffic and it was just bumper to bumper the whole way,” Ms Giddio said.

Two hours, two traffic diversions and an emergency breastfeeding session later, a frazzled Ms Giddio finally made it into her husband Eric’s business in Botany.

“[Charlotte] was all right when I first left but I had to pull over because she was really hot and dehydrated. I had to strip her down and feed her and I had to put cloths up on the window for shade,” she said.

“I’ve got a four-year-old with me as well so while the traffic was still I had to get her to jump from one side of the car to the other because the sun was too hot.”

Oh baby, M5 tunnel takes its toll - National - smh.com.au.

Oh… my… god… the four year old had to move from one side of the car to the other. This is just terrible. How traumatic for all concerned. Dear oh dear.

I hope that her health insurance covers trauma counselling because Rebecca is clearly in need of some help with getting over this dreadful trip.

Jetsetter PM is losing points with voters

By Sharri Markson

September 21, 2008 12:01am

Rumblings of discontent can be heard across the nation as grumpy voters begin protesting about the extraordinary amount of time the Prime Minister spends abroad.

Jetsetter PM is losing points with voters | NEWS.com.au.

Dear Sharri seems to be making up the news now. There is absolutely no evidence presented in this article that the PM is losing points with voters. Perhaps some friends of Sharri mentioned it to her? Who knows? It’s just another case of News journalists making up the news.
